Im no expert but it sounds like a cobia with false teeth
I went for a look around Pelican Banks yesterday, but left a bit late, so it was pretty blowy by the time I got there. I fished anyway (as you do) but found myself getting bitten off. Hooks gone and both legs of the dual dropper loops sliced as neat as with a knife.
I caught a toadfish (green back) which was about 30cm long. Obviously these are the culprits (unless I have discovered a new breed of razor-toothed whiting).
What I'd like to know is if this is a common experience when fishing the southern Bay area for whiting.

If its not denture enhanced Cobia its probably down to a few regular culprits including Grinners, School Mackeral, Oceanic toadfish or Yellow Tail Pike. You can add Tailor and Bull Sharks to the list at times

that toad is a cowfish. I have only come across them a couple of times but when you do you have to move or buy a tackle shop.
fishing's as simple as 3 P's - patience, perserverance and PLASTIC!
Caught on elf those a few months ago at Macleay Island that went 64cm. I thought I had hooked another Jewie until it slipped beneath the boat. Mongrel things. I have had them cut the hooks before as well.
Netmaker, I couldn't afford either of those options, so I caught the ferry to Victoria Point and tackled the tackle shop owner. He reckons I'm all square now.
Fishing is getting soooo complicated.
i got clean snipped off on Sunday fishing for whiting and then somehow landed a yellow tailed pike just after.

those green sea toads can be in plague proportions sometimes, usually the culprit of any clean bite offs this time of year, they bite straight through some hooks

Give a man a fish, he'll eat it and fall asleep.
Teach a man to fish and he'll endanger an entire species
Rainbow, I got snipped off twice, so 4 hooks off two rigs. Gave up after that, was only catching small summer whiting anyway.
