Re: Scotto's new Haines Signature 543sf Project

I have had quite a few requests for performance details :-

The hull is rated up to 150hp with our choice of motor being the benchmark Suzuki DF 140A. This motor has again earned quite a reputation and perfectly balances the boat while offering fantastic fuel economy with Suzuki’s lean burn technology. We couldn’t be happier with the performance and have propped the boat for midrange fuel economy running a Suzuki stainless steel 3 x 13 7/8 x 21 R prop. This combination gets out of the whole well while offering a cruising speed of 37 km/h (approx 20 knots) burning 15 litre per hour at 4000 rpm! This gives the boat great range with the underfloor 160 litre fuel tank. WOT at 6000 rpm produces 67kph (approx 36 knots) burning 45 litres per hour

*See attached PDF for full performance figures

Are those weights right? That is heavy for a 5.5m open boat! Has it been over the weigh bridge? What is its weight on a trailer?
I am so happy to wake up in the morning.

    Beats the alternative!

Thanks for the thread, it has been interesting to follow.

At the start of the thread, you mentioned and showed a photo of a 220 litre tank, was that not feasible in the end?

The Haines group are still looking to get a larger one in the space available - but the current one has come in at 160 litres. Ours actually appears to hold closer to 180 now after it has been filled a few times ...

We actually moved it up another one after that - it is now on the 3rd hole down from top / up from bottom

Looks like we'll finally get back on the water this Sunday

Mine has one more hole to go up and as I'm getting 5800rpm I'm thinking of going up to the last.

What prop are you running ? I believe it will be more prop based if you only have one more to go up ...

I am no prop expert - but it your engine height is similar to mine and your only getting 5800 rpm - I'd look at running a 19" prop next...
