I caught this GT off Cape Capricorn last weekend. It was about 1300mm long ( estimated at least 300mm longer than a 1m long measuring sticker ) Any Ausfishers who have caught a few of these things able to give me an estimate on the weight?
Thanks

Mate just a stab but I'd say 30 35 kg
Id reckon around the 30 kg mark to mate
Whats the Prize for the correct or nearest weight? Anyway id go about 45kg
I've caught (and released) 4 gts in that price bracket, and would call it around 35kg. How was your back after the last 5 mins? The difference between the usual 15-20 kg models and these bad boys, is the last bit, when they just won't give up!!! Nice fish!
fruit salad is the new Bacon
That beats my 35cm and 40cm gt from last weekend lol
I'll go against the tide a bit - 25kg for mine. Nice GT but not quite in the class of a weighed 35kg fish I have seen caught. Could be that the photo is deceptive though always hard to tell from a photo from this distance.
I immediately thought 30kg when I first saw the pic.

It's a good one........25kg would be where it's at maybe a bit over but it looks like a good fish to me well done.

Confidence.......the feeling you get before you fully understand the situation.
How can two photos show it to appear two totally different sizes......
Don't know that it would tip 30 but be close I reckon...
Low to mid 20's by the look of it the scales generally disappoint most, guys that catch and release gts get their weights way off most of the time to look at they always seem bigger

Thanks for that everyone. Sounds like 25-30 Kg is the consensus. Your right , they do look a lot bigger than the actual weight, I'd hate to hook one of the 100lb models.
It was caught on a live hussar on a 10kg spin rod with 20lb braid. had to chase it with the boat and took a solid 20 mins to get in. Swam away strongly when released
