Hi guy's, took the kid's fishing yesterday at Jacobs well tourist park and caught a variety of fish, but have no idea what this is. Any help would be great. Cheers woody.
The one on the left is a diamond fish also known as a butter bream and the one on the right is a member of a group of small, shallow water fish known collectively as the Crescent Perch.
The "Crescent Perch" is also often called a "Crescent banded grunter" or just grunter. Gets confusing as there are many colloquial names for any species.
yep cresent perch i catch them in one lake i fish in.. they fight like hell for a little fish and are spikey little buggers.. the butter bream get caught in the cast net from time to time trying to catch herring...
