How light are you looking at and what kind of luring do you plan on doing?

I have a 5000 Stradic 5000. Salina and a 5000 sustain personally the sustain is mostly used for hardbody's and plastics as it feels much more delicate the Salina is my high speed spinner targeting longtails and mackeral mainly use the Stradic for blades and bait fishing if this help try to stretch your budget to the sustain u wont regret it

Yeah just lite blades, little hardbodys, and small plastics, even the 4000 isn't too bad of a size, planning to run 12lb braid

that all sounds a bit too heavy for me, 2500 size in any of those reels would be fine. I would cut the 12lb braid down to 8lb braid / nanofil

Iv got a 2500 spoiled with 6lb fins. If your planning on throwing small lures I would be sticking to a smaller sized reel lighter line. You will be much better distant from your casts and better control/feel of the light lures.

Iv stopped some fair sized fish on the little 2500

frontflip you dont wanna go stickin a 4000 ./ 5000 on that. Get a stradic or symetre 2500 and load her up with 6 or 8lb Berkley nanofil, are you chasing anything in particular?

I would run with a 3000 size in the Shimano range for that sort of work. A bigger reel will need a more powerful rod to get the most out of it
