First Bass Session of the Season

Seeing all these photos of people nailing bass has made my fingers itchy for a session on the crank baits. Decided to head up Murwillumbah on Sunday morning and have a solo crack on the Tweed at some wild Bass. I've never fished up that way before but after quick googlemaps search and I was off to the boat ramp on Commercial road. Had the boat in the water by 7am, the river was looking amazing like a sheet of mirrored glass!

I headed upstream towards the weir and as I came round the first bend much to my surprise there were 4 boats pulled up on the rock ledge opposite the fork in the creek! Gave that snag a miss and proceeded down the river to see what else it held. No more than 500 metres up the river there was another two boats fishing a hole in front of a rocky outcrop with plastics. I was expecting to see maybe one or two boats not 7 in a stretch no longer than a kilometre Eventually I decided to drift a section between a fallen tree and a rock just before the 3rd bend from the boat ramp. On my first drift I got nailed at the fallen tree. I haven't caught a Bass in years and man are they FUNNNN!! Boated the first fish by 7:45.

Not the biggest bass in the world but was really fat, healthy and angry!
Decided to hold on the snag with the electric. Dropped one and boated another of the fallen tree in the space on 20mins

I had a poke up to the weir and stopped at few more snags with no joy.
Managed to get one more just a couple of hundred metres up from the boat ramp on a stretch on vertical rock. The little guy came right out of the snags and smashed my crank in clear water

The Connect Camp boys and I nailed 8 last week on the Brissy River nearly all between 30 and 39. 3 on worms and 5 on hard bodies like yours. Loads of fun! Mal
