I'm looking at a new rod to suit a Salina 3 16000 running line between 60lb - 80lb. I'm after an all rounder rather than a specific jig or popping rod. I have narrowed my choice down to a Terez in either a TZS69hpw (6'9" 40-80lb) or TZS69xhpw (6'9" 40-100lb). The hpw has a little more tip but the xhpw has significantly bigger guides and tip. Has anyone who has used these rods shed a bit of light on how they performed or come up with any other alternatives

I have the 15-30 lb split grip rod. awesome blank I reckon. BUT I have used the rod about four times and already rusty marks are appearing on the guides right next to where they bind to the rod. I wash my rods after every use too. contacted shimano and they just said take it back to where you got it from. haven't done that yet, hopefully it will get replaced but I wonder if the replacement rod will do the same?

I've got two Terez rods both 7'2" one is 15-30lb spin and the other is 30-60lb overhead and they both have rust marks on the guides. I spoke to a tackle shop owner who told me that just about all guides get that bit of rust around the foot of the guide but it is more noticeable on the Terez because of the white blank. The white also yellows pretty quick to.
Horse if 80lb line is the heaviest you are going to be running there is probably not much point in going for the heavier rod as like you say you want a multi purpose rod not a broom stick that is only good for pulling up stumps.

I've got 4 Terez rods, also 15-30, 20-50 and top end up to 150pd, took 1 back because it turned yellow and it was replaced, also got some rust marks. Snapped one, and have heard of others that did the same thing.
Binding around the guides maybe a bit thin as well. Got some big fish on them.
Would I buy another one, don't think so. For that money I would starting to shop around a bit more.
I would go for the 80 pd rod, it will be a very nice combo if you do go Terez.( They are not bad at all)

I had 4 terez rod's down to 2 rust marks on all 4 snapped a 15-30 split 2 guides from the tip 15-40 2 guides from the tip all of them have turned yellow purchased a ocea and guides also rusty I'm not bagging shimano I love there stuff but the rods need a bit more attention to detail I think I would suggest the 40-80 as it has served me well apart from the rusty guides if not a diawa demon blood great feeling rods
It`s funny you know, I still think the original T-curves are hard to beat.
I agree with reggy, I've had my t curve saltwater spin (7 foot ish) for years and sometimes run 80 lbs braid with a stella 10000 and have caught some big GT's and other stuff. Love it!!!! Great value for money too i reckon. Also can run as low as 30 lbs braid without feeling like you will pull the hooks out.
I have held the T curves and Terez side by side. The 15-24kg T curve is much heavier than the 40lb - 100lb Terez. My main concern with the 40-80lb Terez is the smaller tip and guides. I would probably need to run an FG knot rather than my usual Improved AlbrightOriginally Posted by Nabba1

Keep doing your homework mate. There is not much consistency between rod specifications regarding different brands.
My T curve 400 is rated to pe7 line and 500g jigs, but my LF Venom PE 3-8 is only rated to 350g jigs.??????
I don`t mind a tiny bit more weight if it means peace of mind.

Just a follow up on the Terez rod. I picked up a 6'9" in the 40-80lb range and fished a Salina 3 1600 on it. I worked it pretty hard for a few trips at the Agnes M&G and it knocked over some nice fish. Its light and powerful but still has a bit of tip to feel what's happening on the end of the line. I would not like to try and break 80lb through it and think it suited to 24kg sort of work. I was really happy with the rod. The reel gave me a few hiccups by dropping out of anti-reverse on one fish but a bit of a fiddle with the switch and it seemed to be fine after that
Another Ausfisher had the 6'6" OH version and was very happy with it until the reel seat became unglued.

Neil, I lot of good info in the above threads. But really, a white rod. I refused to buy one for that very reason.

I cringe every time I look at it. It also made it impossible to sneak the new rod into the house as there was no way I could hide it among the other gear. Poor planning by Mr Shimano

What I find funny is that you never see a woman trying to sneak a pair of shoes or whatever she has bought into the house even though she might have a thousand pairs lying around but the man is always looking for ways to hide his stuff.My wife can buy what she likes and I'm sweet with that but she knows not to question me if I decide to go out and buy something I like.Any way,the terez rods seem to be pretty good but also wish they would make them in black or something less out there.
