    Over reef at night

Ok, I have another question for ya. Do you guys fish over reef at night or hang off the reef?

I have never yet actually fished on top of reef at night, I always fish off the reef in the deep rubble for reds and stuff. Am I missing out on good fish staying off or is it a waste of time over reef at night.

Reason I ask is my oldman and I have a debate everytime we go. He wants to go on top in 30m or so, and I don't. lol. I win everytime.

This may be a silly question, but I want to know.

I've fished ontop of the reef a few times at night when it's blown up and we couldn't hook up out wide at night in 15 -20 knots. We just hooked up on top of the bommie and hung out the back. During the night we caught a couple of nice emporer and a few spangles nothing flash. It was more of a consolation prize than a nice esky of fish.

If you've got a spots out in the deep I'd fish it 100 times (weather permitting) before I'd hook up on the reef at night. I'm not expert though, spent many a night out in the deep with not much in the box to rave about. But when you do it generally can pay off.
