A couple of days off Airlie with Sea Fever Sportfishing.

I worked as deckie on Sea Fever Sportfishings 32 Pirate on Friday. We had a keen group of boys on board for the day, eager to sample what the GBR has to offer.
After a great run out, we fished the bottom up around line reef, pulling a good feed of Trout, Red Throats and misc reefies. It wasn't red hot, but the guys kept me busy!
In search of a bit of pelagic action, we set the troll lines out and patrolled the reef edge. Despite some incredible shows on the big Raymarine, we only scored one bight, a 20 + kg Spaniard. Nice fish!
The guys, we're also keen to see a GT so they took it turns on the popper rod. We hooked 3 in an hour, but none came to the boat
It was time to head home and it had chopped up a bit, but the big Pirate still chugged through it at 21 kts, no problem.
Ash also went out on charter Saturday with much better results. The got a few reds, some stonking Red Throats and got stretched out by some solid Chinaman. It seems the Mackeral have moved on for the time being.
