Hello all,
Secretly planning a trip for Leanne to Broome later this year in October for her 40th birthday. She loves fishing as much as me so I was thinking of a day charter chasing sailfish.
Anyone fished out of Broome on a charter vessel? Not really interested in reefies more game fishing.

I was up there at a similar time of year and I found the charter operators had lost interest by then. I was prepared to book an entire boat but they still seemed to not care. So I fished from the jetty.
I hope you have better luck than me!
Am over this way going find very hard get one to do what you want better off going Down to Exmouth and shark bay that's wanted fish out of Western Australian waters

I was bloody excited to get out and about when we travelled through Broome and booked myself onto Westcoast Fishing Charters. I wanted to go chase reds but they were talking about a 15-20 knot wind that was going to make it uncomfortable. I thought that was a bit of BS but anyway was happy to get out. We went 20 minutes to the closest reef and sat there fishing, we caught a few fish but to be honest not enough enthusiasm to try harder...... I could have got there in my 12 ft tinny. I asked the skipper what this reef was called and he said"we call it the freeway, everyone goes past here to head out but its close and it has fish" It seemed to me like it didn't really matter to them as they had the perfect job and an ideallic lifestyle. Everything in Broome costs an arm and a leg and this fishing charter was $250 p/p. If I didn't have a yummy mummy to perve on I probably would have said something but me like them were selfishly happy!
This was the charter Be prepared to pay the big ones and I would call ahead. There is a Ausfish memer on here called Broomy, who I met as he has a Noble 7.5 Centre Cab and was right into his sport fishing, I would be inclined to go with him. He was quite a character and a top bloke. My 5 cents!

I've heard the sailfish fishing there is world class when its on. It's always been on my list of "to dos" Doesn't sound that inviting now.
I've checked out these guys and by the sounds of it we wont have the right tides, and the season could be over so maybe I need to do other activities rather than fish.

West Coast charters were the ones who stuffed me around. I rang and booked prior too.
For the sails, you want to go to the rowley shoals on a live aboard.
The jetty is OK. I later heard banana prawns work well there. Also, use lots of lead and have some way to land a big fish up the jetty. Locals use cliff gaffs. Some bloody big queenies were hanging around the pylons when I was there, they just weren't interested in anything anyone presented to them.
