Yes its a robalo r235 heavy little thing, a little over 2t dry. Add fuel and water and gear probably 2.5t. Had a mirage 15x17pitch prop. Seems like many of these boats were released with this motor. Yamaha guys said it was the right prop. Cruise was about 22-24kts (4500-5000rpm) and top speed 30knts (5800rpm). But in saying that it took ages to get there and when it did it sounded like the motor was working hard to stay there. Im not saying 4strokes are bad, im just saying if you were going to get one i would get something higher in HP than its 2stroke counterpart.
I think it would be safe to say the same boat would perform much better if it had say a 225 etec or opti?
The same boat would perform heaps better with a 225 4.2L yammy, 225 honda, 225 suzuki...
The 4.2l yamaha perhaps because its 4.2l capacity, but not the others. I know a guy that has the honda 225 on the same boat and performs the same 31kt top speed. As i said nothing wrong with 4 strokes you just need em slightly bigger in HP.
Some really good experiences and info on here just helped me make up my mind to stay with the trusty old 4 banger. Cheers
