Well done.
I called in at Aussie Seafoods at Capalaba on Monday to check on their mullet prices. While I was there, had a quick squizz at the fish prices.
Diver whiting fillets at $46 per kg!!!!! They are like gold!
Makes a trip over there to catch them well worth while from a financial perspective, let alone adding in the great family recreational and stresss reduction values etc of such a trip.
Crikey, I am glad that I catch my own, couldnt see myself buying them at that price!
Cheers
ML
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....
I went out for a look around Deception Bay yesterday morning. Lots of red weed in the water off Caboolture River area made the fishing a bit tough. Ended up with 21 good sized whiting for a few hours effort.
Cheers

ml....give most of mine away to family/friends/neighbours......they all appreciate the fish which is reward enough for me, though I do get the 6 pack of beer here and there as a thankyou
Jeff....both yesterday and today plenty of snot weed about, some area very little other areas plenty
$46 of labour too get about 40 fillets for the kilo lol makes u wonder tho when u compare that too a nice slab of trout or other reef fish I know what I'd prefer to eat tho!
Robin
Yeah. I give a fair share of mine away too. Amazing how word gets around amongst the family that I have a heap of fillets in the fridge! My elderly neighbour George is always appreciative of a feed of them too.
I was just surprised at how expensive they were! But the others are right - take into account the time to catch then fillet them, and I guess it adds up to a fair $ per kg rate for the pro's that line-fish for them.
Still, its kinda nice to be able to say to yourself (or the Commander-in-Chief of the Opposition Forces) that you've covered the cost of petrol, and then some!
Jeff - Might be time for a trip to the Sandhills. A couple of weeks ago when we were there, no weed to speak of. Sunday is looking good weather wise at this stage - interested in coming for a run in the Surtees? Give me a buzz.

Guys
The imported whitting fillets are $14 a kg.
Dayam...had to actually WORK today...elsewise I would have been there
On a good note tho...another happy customer & dollars in KERRIS' pocket
Bread buttered on the right side....if ya know what I mean
Cheers, Ray.
mangrove rat.....100 fillets lately have been about 3-3kg.....bigger fish than sandhills.....those imported whiting are nowhere near as nice as our whiting, so I am told, I wouldn't buy them
Sorry mate wasn't far off, still labour etc and profit for 30 fillets adds up....
can you see these buggers on your sounder or are you just drifting around?
Thanks Robin.
I havnt been overthre for couple weeks.
Prob head over to sandhills on saturday if weather is ok, then thevRouson sunday.

Cheers
Greg
