Moreton Island Report
HI Guys,
So i said i would post a report for the Island here it is.
Arrived on Monday morning set up camp and then went looking for some gutters to fish that night. Went South from Middle Track all the way to Korringal Track and found 3-4 gutters along the way that looked promising.
We ended up settling for a gutter that was just north of Mirapool.
After a trip back to camp to get our gear and food we got out there just before dusk and tried our luck. It was due to be a 2.8 tide that night and we found it hard going on the sweep so we ended up waiting till just before high around 19:30 and tried again.
Within a few minutes of casting we had our first tailor 40cm, nice we hoped for more. They were not thick however for about an hour we fished there for a catch of 12 and a few throw backs, the 12 including a 55cm tailor i got which went 2.2kg. Not that bad could have fished more as after about an hour they went a little quiet but we decided to enjoy a nice night and drink the Uncle Jack we brought with us.
For any one that hasnt been over the recently with all the eroision and with high tides, if you come from middle road (we camped on the west side) and go down south then you will not get back until a good few hours after high tide becasue of camel rock.
The second night we went back to the same spot and was nearly a repeat of the first night, I got 7 tailor all 40Cm+ a flatie a large Bream and my catch of the night a 98cm Jewie which is my first ever that i have caught!
All up a great trip for my 9 year old son who has never seen a beach (we live in London, im from brisbane) and he got himself a 45cm tailor (he shat himself when he hooked it great to see ) and got to see 5 whales, a shark swimming in the shallows, alot of dolphins playing 50m out from us and we rescued a big old turtle that had been turned over on the beach, and heaps of hawks and sea eagles and 2 over friendly Kookies.
BAit used: Pillies and Bonito flesh (this was the best) and Mullet flesh.
Cheers all....

Gee, well done on catching what can only be described as some nice quality tailor. Good fish at that size. And congrats on the nice jewie in the surf too!
If some people were to be believed, what you did should be nigh on impossible, since "tailor stocks are (apparently) hanging by a thread" pffffttttt .....

Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....
