Visiting Darwin - land based options?
I'm heading up to Darwin next week for the IRB Aussie Titles at Mindil Beach. I've got some spare time so I figured I'd pack a rod and I'm looking for recommendations for some land based fishing up there. I'll probably just have a flick stick with me so anywhere I can pick up a few trevs etc for a bit of fun would be good. As it will be coming up to a full moon I can also get out at night if that helps up there.
I've also got one full day for a charter so if anyone has any recommendations I'm all ears.

Looks like no-one knows or is willing to help you mate. A bit of general info:
Arafura Blue Water Charters if you want to go offshore. Any number of guides can help around the harbour (hit the phone books when you get up there) by boat, but it might be a bit cool at the moment for much lure action but hey, fish have to eat all year round... Land based around Darwhine (lived up there for a while about 10 years ago so a bit foggy on some place names now) - basically jump in the car and have a look around the whole harbour as there are a heap of wharves and land based possies around the area. Keep an eye out for swirling deep water, that is a good place to start. East Point reserve and even some of the beaches north of Nightcliff are good. Across the harbour (jump the ferry at Cullen Bay) to Mandorah jetty have seen some big Queenies taken over there. Up to Lee Point and the boat ramp - some good beaches and rocky outcrops to fish up there. Very frowned upon (I think they were going to stop it a few years ago) but Cullen Bay lock had some good sized barra and milkies in there 10 years ago...
The Mary River/Coroboree/Shady Camp etc are all within an hour or two of Darwin by car if you feel the fresh water calling.

Thanks for the tips. I'll see what I can find. Is it best to be out and about on the top or bottom of the tides?

Moth
I heard of a few charters up there - equinox, cannon charters and Darwin reef & wrecks. Only second hand info really and haven't been on any of them myself but let us know how you go. I may be up there in a few months myself so will appreciate any recommendations
