Pistol Pete and Neighbour Josh joined me for a sunrise session chasing snapper and what a morning it was. We crossed the bar on first light with clear skies and almost flat seas. 26mph all the way to the 10mile mark. With some good shows on the sounder we dropped the pick and started to burley up. From the first drop fish started coming in. Most were around the 40-50cm mark and then my ganged pilchard got smashed and a nice 5kg snapper came on board. Pete was hot on the cod and soon I handed him my "cod king" title. Joshy nailed a few good size snaps and a nice pearlie. Amongst the hot bite we only managed a couple of photos. Score card went 10 snaps, 1 pearl perch, 1 maori cod and heaps of throw backs. All cleaned up by midday and off to the Yacht club for an arvo of ales and footy and a stunning sunset :-). A perfect day in paradise.
