Headed out with fishfeeder (Brett) and Johnny (my bro) chasing the elusive snapper.
The morning started out as a shocker with heavy fog around most of the bay right up to the shingles. Took almost 2 hours to arrive at the live bait grounds having to constantly slow down to 10-15km/hr due to very poor visibility.
The livies were thick and we were loaded up with slimies in under 10 minutes. The squire/snapper were few and far between but we ended up getting our bag by mid-morning. We then decided to look for some pearlies out wider but to no avail. Lastly, we went for a jig out at the patch for a couple of kings and an aj.
Most of the snapper were caught floating pillies, squid and slimies. The aj and kingies were caught on jigs.
The highlight of the day being a double hookup on snapper (the biggest two of the day) that John and I had. Just before Johns snapper surfaced, his line tangled up with the other three lines and it was a real mess. Meanwhile my snapper was probably 3/4 of the way up. The three of us was scurrying to clean up the mess when Brett notices a knobby floating out the back of the boat. He then wasted no time in reversing the boat and safely netting my snapper before noah grabbed it...was funny shit.
Thanks again to Brett and John. Had a blast.
Congrats John on your PB snapper at 75cm and a cracker day you had. Just remember who taught you how to floatbait for snapper
