Yep ya don't know, could have been down right scary for his wife and 2 girls if it had have happened 10km sooner, stuck on the side of the road with little or no ph service. As it happened (car breaking down) it was after they left with his wife driving that it broke down about 500m from our place.

First of all I would like to publically thank Mark and Family, thanks Mark and Family, it’s the members on this site that give me the faith that real true blue Aussie mate ship is alive and well.
So after the trip back with refined country gents, thank you Steve and Mark, I call Mrs Chong to pick us up at the Mountain Hide Away, after a few misguided directions and the girls recovering the back seat the mountain drive way is well lit and we have touch down with the Chong Time machine.
All good, unpack yadda yadda yadda and we are off to Maryyourbrother, like Mark says, 500m down rd and Mrs Chong says “Luv something not right here” mmmm your not wrong, every warning light, no power steering, no air, no charge, no go!
It appears that the a/c compressor bearing shite itself and snapped the fan belt.
Ok walk back to Marks, leaving Mrs Chong and the Chongetts on side rd, 11pm, wet cold and dark….I walked as fast as I could….up driveway headlight on, Not sure what the TML family thought but…
Get Mark up again, he is happy, goes down rescue girls and tow back to his place.
So as turns out Marks, daughter is heading into town to start work so we all pile in and back home around midnight, Thanks again to the TML Family.
We were looking options to get f*$& car back home and Mark says he has mate with car trailer, ok cool.
So yesterday Mark gets trailer, gets me, goes home gets car, takes me and car to mechanic, drops me off, drops off trailer and goes home….what can I say, Mark I owe you big time, and will repay the kindness is some form.
So car is at shop, I back at work, hopefully we didn’t do too much other damage to the green time machine.
Thanks Again Mate, it is much appreciated.
And thanks to Ausfish and all members.
    Cheers,
    Chong

Great stuff Mark. I knew there was some reason us civilised sophisticated city dwellers allowed you country bumpkin types to associate with us
Chong, I hope you had the in car DVD player loaded with Deliverance and Wolf Creek to keep the family distracted while you went in search of help

Re: South Stradbroke Island Meet and Greet 27th July

Reminds me of many years back I get a knock on the front door at about 2 in the morning in the quiet back blocks of Neurum ( between Woodford and Kilcoy) 2 deg's with frost on the ground. Missus nudges me in the ribs and tells me to see who it is. Reluctantly I open the door and a blokes standing there, well dressed and asks for a push. Ha , closed the door and went back to bed. Missus asked who it was and I said just some dude wanting a push. No way I say at this time in the morning. Then she goes on to remind me the time we broke down out from Clermont, and how the farmer helped us. OK Ok, put the slippers on, went down stairs, opened the door , called out, where are you mate, a faint voice, again I call out, where are you buddy, over here he says, over where I ask, he replies ,over here, on the swing.
