It was before my time in this

I am only a young fella too BUT here is what I have heard....
I have heard that back in the 70's maybe even the 60's the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club started to form....Sooner or later they were the ones involved in creating the reef, made up of scrap tyres, and other scrap metals and bits and pieces.
It was made back in the day when shorts were just that ....err...shorts. Now called hotpants!
Cheers

Well thank you very much for clearing up one piece of the puzzle for me Mr Reefraider.
I dropped my Go Pro down there a couple of weekends ago and there are a heap of tyres down there and apparently bream, squire, a suspected Pearl Perch,,,but the jury is still out on that one, Moses perch and heaps and heaps and billions and billions of weird stripy colourful wrasse parrot little reefie looking cool fish down there but the question I was asking myself was whether the tyres were 'part' of the artificial reef or just a random display of public generosity.
Anyway, thanks for reminding me to post up the videos........
Oh wow muddy. That would be great.
Please please do the same for any other areas you feel like sharing?
I saw some footage once of an area just east of Raby bay (I think). It was amazing to me to have seen what we wander around overhead of.
(Using Tapatalk on iPhone so can't easily 'thank' or 'like')
Yep righto mate, will do.
It'll be a few weeks off though till I'm back home.
here's a bit on it:
Harry Atkinson Artificial Reef
The Harry Atkinson Artificial Reef covers an area of 34 ha and is located 7 km east-south-east of St Helena Island.
This artificial reef was first established in 1975 when more than 17,000 old car tyres were deployed at the site over a five year period. In 1987, 200 shopping trolleys were also placed at the site and some of this material is still present.
The enhancement of this site was undertaken as part of the artificial reef program and commenced in December 2008 with the deployment of 150 m3 of quarried rock creating many shelter sites for small fish.
