Peel Saturday - advice required
Hi team,
I am heading over to Peel this Saturday (6 July) and will be putting in atCleveland - near the VMR. As my username suggests I'm pretty much a first time fisherman.
I go fishing a lot and adore the sport/recreation but come home with verylittle and I guess I put it down to a lack of experience and knowledge.
Most of the knowledge I gain comes from these forums and YouTube. Not thesame as having someone giving advice I guess.
As I said, I will be heading out from Cleveland on Saturday and will beputting in at 5am.
I'll be in a silver (bare aluminium) Sessco Catcher 4.39 with a 40 Yamahatiller steer with a black Bimni – being towed by a black Nissan X-Trail. I'll also be with a matewho has even less fishing acumen than me - if it is possible.
Happy to follow someone over and gain some tips (I promise I won't beannoying).
I have all the gear I need from all size rods, reels, tackle, baits andplastics.
Feel free to come up and say hi at the ramp, come alongside in the water or PM me for my mobile number.

Danny I don't fish that area much as I fish mainly offshore but the couple of times I have caught a fish there was near the last green beacon before you turn into horseshoe bay. There is a shallow rock/boulder reef there that runs into horseshoe and the green marks the deeper channel. Once at this green if you look back toward Cleveland you will see another green marker in between these on the edge of that reef I have caught squire and cod. I don't do plastics much but would reckon they would work. I just use a lightly weighted bait Or no weight depending on current, wind etc. A nicely presented whole small squid or pilchard should do the trick.
There are others on here with a heap more knowledge of that area that may offer advice but this should get you started. My best advice will be to get there EARLY as with the condition predicted for Saturday there will be a thousand boats going past.
