Quick report for the day.
First trip for the holidays so was at the eastern side of mud before first light determined to break my mud snapper virginity . No bait taken so I was drifting and flicking the placcies. First two drifts saw one grinner and a couple of nibbles on the Zman natural shrimp and the pearl paddler. Changed up to a lime tiger shad, few more drifts, another grinner, bitten off and then nothing. All up 3 and a half hours of drifting for nothing.
Change of tactic, back to the zman shrimp and in close to shore to see what's there.......2nd cast grinner ......big fukka too. Was feelin down and out when I spot an odd looking bit of shallow water, closer inspection was a massive school of taylor. Flicked what I had on the rod at them but were not interested, I finally calmed down enough to hook up a surface popper and within 3 casts hooked my first decent fish. Spent the next hour chasing them up and down the shallows......lots of fun with multiple takes but only 3 solid hook ups.......came across a school of trevally as well.
All up a pb taylor at 50cm, another at 45cm and my first golden trevally at 44cm ................................finally fish is on the menu after a fishing trip!!
