Met up with SummerTrance again out at Mud for a few more lessons on how to catch nice Snapper.
What more could you ask for......
Choppy seas, wet ar...ummm....rear, wind & drizzle......
Busted off 1st cast, lost on the retrieve after the zzzzzzzz's peeled off.....bit the jig head clean off.
30cm Squire second cast, went back to be with mum & dad....
Then drift after drift until around 8.30 for nought.....
Correct me if I am wrong buddy, but we must have been into about the 4th drift on your marks when all of a sudden, the screaming zzzzzz's kicked in again.
Now, I have seen SummerTrance do this, SO, with absolutely NO trepidation whatsoever, I INTO this one.
Probably only peeled a 100mts max of braid, then back to the boat with a nod on the way just to let me know he was a Snap.
3 screams later, and a cupla runs near the boat I could see a flash out the back near the motor.....
Then he took off AGAIN......now I am goin to meself at least he is good size, maybe 60cms....whoooohooo
After the last run, he dutifully rose to the surface and floated gently to the ever awaiting net.
72cms......I couldn't believe it...my FIRST Snap....AND a 70+ to boot
All I can say now is SPs' are a goer.....played with a 2 hook paternoster rig with fresh mullet....not even an INTEREST nibble.
ALL hits were on SPs'.
Needless to say the paternoster set-up was retired for the rest of the day.
With all due respect, if it hadn't been for SummerT.....I would not be writing this today.
Thanks M8 for all your patience, guidance and expertise, as well as unselfishly inviting me along, for a well & truly GREAT first time experience.
Now I know ST didnt bag a fish today, but, he will in future now that he has his own boat again, finally.
Cheers, Ray.
