    BRAID - 3, 4, 6 or 8 strands?

    Hi guys

Was wondering what your thoughts are on the different numbers of strands out there for braid.

I would imagine 8 strand would give better abrasion resistance than 4 and that would mean it is thicker too???

Would be good to hear some thoughts on this...

    regards

Have a look at Paulus VanGaal's website (search his name on google). He is a specialist on braded and fused lines and explains the intricasy well.
More strands does not mean thicker, it can mean thinner.
Basically it is like rope, standard rope has 3 strands each with x number of fibres.....same with braid.
Generally the higher the number, the rounder the profile and smoother it feels.
That however has its limitations when you get down to light breaking strains.
