Hey Bondy your using Braid on the Beach mmm. Mate sounds like you need a couple of Synder Glass Blanks and a couple of Alveys with some mono. Nothing Else.

    Manta Man.

Nah, not using braid, I have before but was very windy and braid easily tangled and got knotted too easily, Braid is good for calm days from my experience. Using mono from the beach. Unfortunately I'm not into Alveys, they are good no doubts there. I use high speed spinner reels for tailor.

Synder Glass Blanks are not cheap like they use to be.

How big the blank and wraps you reckon?

    Cheers, Bndy

Either a 7162=13ft6in or a 7177=15ft. Old Mate suggested the Gary Howard 13'6 good choice, i've just used Snyder Glass all my life. Also start looking at say Pawn Shops, i picked up a near new 4136 Blank for $45. Personally it's sound like you want to throw to Lord Howe, so i'd go the Fifteen Footer . Cheers Manta Man

    Manta Man,

Unfortunately the pawn shops I've been to, there's not much around in the way of good rods. Them the breaks.

Someone else suggested "Gary Howard's Greenback" I think that's 13'6"

I had a rough Google search bit pricey for my wallet just yet, I don't think they do laybys , seems to be way too much commericalism these days. Hahaha, wishful thinking on my part with Lord Howe. I'll get to Lord Howe one day before its too late.

13ft 6" would be the go. If you happen to see a good rod in the pawn shops that you know of, let me know?

    Cheers, Bondy

Thanks for that tip. None of the pawn shops I've been to have any of the rods mentioned. At least not in my area.

if your looking for a rod Bondy ive got one im trying to get rid of becuase im not fishing off the rocks anymore.. I used it off the seaway for trevally and Jew.. the link is in tackle and accessories under the title Swap.. im also happy to just sell it and i work in surfers.. Not sure if you use an alvey or a spin reel would be well suited for a spin reel.

Do they still have those big pipes on the spit at the end so you have to cast over them and can't really get a good look?

    Childers,
I did use the 10ft Spinfisher as well, not in the right spot apparently.

    Thanks for the thought though.

    Nice Tailor

Which ones are you referring to?

The ones that skyrocket in the air, they start about 100 yards or so then tend to curve down about the middle, then the other large pipes, yeah they still run right through towards the end pump You can cast over those ones very easily, The ones in the middle of the SPJ are more challenging.

Overseas visitors still climb the safety barrier to sit on those pipes and have been seen standing on the pump platforms, especially at the far end late at night.

I hope this assists you with your enquiry.

    Cheers, Bondy

Yeah the ones you have to cast over and thats the best side for fishing apparently.
When I went there I thought 'if only those pipes were gone'.
Nice Tailor anyways, the big one there is a good size.

If it wasn't for those pipes it would be a great place to throw out a big livie under a float (maybe, but never tried).

While you are talking rods. At the moreton Bay and Offshore fishing challenge on the weekend just gone Wilson had a tent there and had a heap of gear for sale. This included one rack of rods that consisted of mainly live fibre surf and boat rods but also a few snyder glass surf rods. I think Wilson own the brand now? Anyway lots of good rods from 12' to 15'5". All were $100 each!!!!!! Maybe worth a call to Wislon to see if they still have them?

No wonder they are 100 a rod since it is 500 a fish I think its a bargain.
