I have a 1990 mariner 150 2 stroke and I have the original owners manual etc from when purchased new and it states for optimum performance and best results to use quicksilver oils. Ive been using quicksilver in my 40 merc and cant complain will be using quicksilver when my mariner is back on my boat also

Thanks for everyone's replies! I'm going to try the quicksilver premium. I actually LOVE the 2 stroke smell (only diesel is better! ), but crew and family are susceptible to sea sickness. The test trip out on Friday was in flat calm conditions and the smell was really quite overpowering.
    Thanks again for everyone's input.

I have used both quicksilver premium and valvoline in my pre-mix 175 merc, I couldn't notice any difference. I had to change to valvoline as its more readily available in Mackay on weekends especially.

Found the same as Rob above. I noticed a difference, but not enough to warrant the extra price. Caltex distributors have a winter special in my area of 20lt for $120-130 each year.

A couple of things to make life a bit more pleasant,
When launching and starting take note of the wind direction and turn the boat into the wind if you can.
Always pull up when idling facing side on or into the wind if possible.
When trolling with the wind, just tack a little to avoid the fumes.

You can avoid a lot of the fumes with some thought and have a good day with the family.
