I cant say Ive seen or heard of it being done but in saying that I cant see why you couldnt provided you had surge protected jumper leads, also if you could you would want to disconnect your expensive electronic items as an extra precaution.
IMO you are best of putting your battery on a trickle charger over night before going out, my boat sat for 10 weeks last year and when I put a multi meter on the battery it was down a bit but 10 hours on trickle brought it back to 12.7v no worries.

cheers axl, end up putting on charger ,didn't want to risk it ,thanks
Hi
I was out with someone and the battery was dead. VMR gave us a jump starter pack to use. My question is why would this be ok to use as you use the same to start your car etc but it would not be ok to use jumper leads from your car to your boat. ???

Jump started once and blew the radio, sounder and tacho. Expensive exercise !!
Jumper leads & boost packs are fine so long as you take the normal precautions. My question is why would this be ok to use as you use the same to start your car etc but it would not be ok to use jumper leads from your car to your boat. ???
Connect negative last, start & run motor, turn on some load, disconnect negative first.
Common sense would be to leave your delicates off during the exercise.
Using a battery / changing a battery or booster is no different than turning a key on or an isolator...hook up as above ,ignition/ isolator off ...start as normal...disconnect whilst running...for anything to blow you would have to have either hooked up wrong / wrong voltage selection or a serious electrical issue ...never have I ever blown anything from jump starts either off other cars / battery packs / start chargers...
