Ok, thanks for all the help guys

    Last question......

From all your combined experience, do certain tides & times play any major part for catching whiting in the Rous ?

Thinking of going on Friday now.

    Thanks, Ray.

Where u heading tomorrow. I think it will be pretty choppy out at the rous. Normally a good sw chops it up out there.

Greg have u tried for whiting around margate yet
Dad reckons fishing is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck.

Not yet. Only thought about that thisweek. Just wondering if they were back at our old spot just out from woody point.

    Re: Whiting

If someone could give me an idea of reasonable ground closer to Woody or Margate I would appreciate - bit of a hike from here to Rouse

    Thanks in advance

    Trevelly,
    Where do u leave from?
I am going to try just outside 2 nd yellow marker out from woody point jetty. We did well there last year and also up at Margate from green zone boundry to the margate ramp

    Re: Whiting

Welll...found the rous...bit choppy on the way out, waved at some harries fisher people as we were passing.

Left the rous around 11 am, chop was getting worse.

Once we cleared the rous markers, the swell & chop hit up big time.

Decided to head stait across to St Helena...shortest route to cover.

Between the rous & harries, we encountered 1.5 - 2 m swells and had to be content to idle on through.....nose into the sets...got soaked a cupla times.
The sets were not consistant & the wind was swinging SW-NW @ about 10+ knots.

Passed over harries with 3 boats braving it out...MUCH bigger than US though

Kept heading for St Helena, then turned south to pick up the beacon at the bottom of Green.
Went to pick up the speed, but the old Jonno wouldnt go past about 10 mph so kept idling in.....think we were pretty lucky to get in at ALL....top plug lead had come off....says a LOT for the old motors though, she just kept on a pluggin.

The chop in the channel heading into the Manly leeds was almost as bad as the middle of the bay at times.

Anway, got in, loaded the boat & went home.....ALL for 3 Whiting ( 2 nice size ) & one unidentified species.

NOT the most pleasant of days

    R & K.

    Re: Whiting

I think i saidit would be choppy. W or sw is a pain out there. It really does chop up with some big swells.
    Any fish?

    Hi Greg,

To be honest I haven't tried for whiting locally yet as I have not had any leads till now - thank you.

I have been out to Mud from Shorncliffe and just South of Scarby reef from Scarborough but I can readily get out from kite park ramp to Woody but haven't used that one yet - I have only tried a few trips for bay snapper so far - no luck with them so far.
    Cheers
