200hp yammie 4 stroke prop selection

I'm after some advice on prop selection for my 200hp yammie fourstroke.

The boat is a 5950 oceancylinder, center console, 25° deadrise, weighs about 2 tonne loaded, carries 330L of fuel.

The motor is a 2003 3.3L V6 Yamaha fourstroke. I've tried a 13P x 15 3/4 dia yamaha saltwater series staino, and it hit 6 grand straight up, for about 65kms.

I've got my hands on a borrowed 15P x 15 3/4 yammy saltwater staino which will be tested on the weekend.

Anyone with a similar boat size and motor combo got any ideas or advice.

Not after speed, I'm after fuel economy and range.

I reckon the 15P will bring the WOT back to about 5700-5800 and expecting about 70-75 click WOT.

Open to any brand of prop ali or staino.

Not with your particular combo, but with same donk on 6m/625 glass boat. Being ally, a cylinder boat and 25 deg DR it will be harder to push. First thing that comes to mind is that is a pretty big diameter for your combo! I would def. be trying a smaller diam, which should allow a slightly larger pitch (relatively). i.e. 15 1/4 diam MAX. Overall it should improve performance. Are you happy with the current trim? i.e. do you need transom lift, bow lift???

    Gofishin,

Trim is good, yeah was thinking the same if the 15P x 15 3/4 dia is no good I'll try say a 17P x 14 or 14 1/2.

The previous donk was a 140hp suzi 4 banger so I'm trying to work out how to use the torque of the 200 and not have to rely on revs alone to get the job done.

Suzi 140 torque was not there on this boat, always had to work it hard with a 17P or 18P prop

If the yammie will run about 5700-5800 wot I'll be happy.

It's just time to work it out. The other drama in Darwin is finding props to try, none of the dealers here have a test selection. So I'm relying on borrowing props to work out exactly what I need.

This data may be of some use. Couple of different prop tests on a 625 glass boat with your donk. The SS M series 17" was a fairly common prop for your donk.

Re: 200hp yammie 4 stroke prop selection

I had a 200 Yam and found a HR Solas Titan 14/3/4 x 17 in the 3 blade to be a good choice . I also tried the same (Titan ) in a four blade x 15 pitch and it to was okay . The four blade props definately give lift to the stern . I currently have an F250 and run a four blade Titan and i am pleased with its performance .If you are experiencing any trim problems or are stern heavy ,consider a four blade . They are everything they say they are especially on anything rather than a conventional hulled boat.
