    yep, agree 100% the little green "good to go" indicator is pretty lame, nothing beats a quality battery, nice clean terminals, good cables and regular use.

    OK that makes sense now, had a green indicators but one cell out of 12 was slightly low in electrolyte, indicator just a novelty by the looks.

    Garry a very good point. So what are the options in the case of maintenance free.

    Testing a maintenance free battery will entail a full load test, this being the only way to test it (in a way)

    Yes agree with Noelm as they can still hold charge but that is no indication of how good they are under load (In use).

    Yeh, I just load test them. easiest way as I am sick of the mess and breaking hydriometers
