solution how to brine pilchards
hi guys need to know how to brine pilchards plus salted pillys how much salt hope you can help me i have never done it before

There is a few ways to go about this, it has been covered a few times now. If you get a container and put a layer of Pilchards, a layer of salt and repeat, after a while, you will end up with liquid covering the Pilchards and they will be "brined" stinks a bit and they are dry as old boots. To simply salt them you need to keep removing the liquid and keep salting them, this will give you a dried/cured Pilchard, best way for bait is, eating quality IQF and pack into day sized packets and keep frozen, some like to add some salt to make them harder as they defrost, but I have found, quality Pilchards are firm when defrosted.
