Somerset Dam - June long weekend
Hi All,
Heading to Somerset Dam for the June long weekend, can anyone give me any idea on what the fishing should be like? This will be my first trip to Somerset so I have no idea what to expect, I know you get bass there, but can you get yellow bellies as well? Will the red claw still be ctive or will it be to cold now. Thanks.
Cheers,
Paul

Take some shrimp traps with you and use live shrimps and you shouldn't have any trouble catching a few bass and yellows if last weekend is any indication.

Set the red claw pots and leave them over night in 3-5mtrs of water, you will get a feed from that. Use rockmelon, about 1/4 of a fruit per trap and you will be right. You don't have to venture too far from the ramp either so don't be fooled by searching for untouched locations, sometimes the most unlikely looking spots prove the most productive...... Set them late in the arvo and be first on the water in the morning, no bugger can pinch your efforts this way!!
