How small, if they were close to legal, you might have had a chance. If they were real small, you were probably wasting your time.
On tuesday we come across what was obviously a big school of undersize reds. We kept persisting thinking that wherever there is small reds there would be bigger reds, but had no luck.
Did we do the right thing by driving away or should we have stayed longer and kept trying?

Glad you remembered to ask the question...........I forgot about it with all the rest of the poo going on!!!
When he says a big school he means having multiple 4 way hook ups on them.........every fish, every drift was an undersize red.
I'm not a red expert but whenever I've found those schools of little reds I haven't caught any decent ones. I think schools of similar size fish stick together. If you're catching that many little ones it's time to move on in my opinion.
Up this way you want to find deeper water if the school is undersize the smaller ones stay shallower.
IF IT CAN'T EAT A WHOLE PILLY I DON'T WANT IT
cobiaman by sounding around these areas yes you will find, larger reds

When fishing the gneerings at mooloolaba the little reds must come through in schools its not uncommon to catch half a dozen one after the other never heard of a legal red being caught on the gneerings tho
You must have been there a bit late in the day for the bigger ones. Were you delayed in getting out to the grounds or something and thus there a bit later in the day?
Just saying!
