I feel sorry for the people who had to work today. Out the front of Redcliffe was a perfect day to be on the water, and even if we didnt catch anything it still was a great day not to be at work. Luckily we also caught a feed.
We started with a sleep in and didnt get out on the water until 9.30am. We headed for our spot and almost straight away we pulled in a few throw backs. After a while of drifting we landed a few winter whiting a flathead and a squid. I had heard that a few good snapper/ squire had been caught on whiting heads so we kept them for a chance. We managed to catch a wide range of fish but not a feed.
We moved back for another drift and and my reel started sreaming and after a few good runs i landed this almost 2kg 52cm squire on my whiting rod. So we went for the same drift and pick up another squire at 46cm, then the girl picked up her pb squire of 47cm. One last drift before bottom of the low and i pick up my last squire and the girl lost a good fish that just ran and didnt even turn. I feel i may have gone close to my big one but we will never know.
After we had a good feed we decided to try a few new areas with no success but what a day to be out on the bay. We ended back at the ramp by 2.30pm so a great day had. I just know its going to be hard at work tomorrow looking out the window thinking i could do that all again.
