    Caboolture river trip

Got down to the ramp Saturday morning at 10.30 only to discover the gusty sw had picked up on the turn of the tide, had a bit of a re think as to where we could fish the making tide to hide from it a bit and decided to head up around bakers flats, started off a bit slow with one flathead and a few brim coming on board, Then after getting blown around a fair bit about 2 hours before the top of the tide the big summer whiting came on the bite which was target species for the day.
Finished up catching 16 good quality summer whiting, 7 brim and one flathead, along with about another 30 under size brim All the fish where caught on Yabbies
This was the first time I have fished the river since the floods and was quiet surprised at the amount of silt build up around the flats, It would be the worst I have seen it in the 45 years that I have been fishing this area.
Forgot to take the camera so thought I would put up a photo of where some of them finished up this morning.
    Cheers Martin

I got a couple of nice whiting across the flats there at my last outing a couple of weeks ago, was surprised they were still there then, you've done well to get a good feed of them this close to winter!

The silt? Yeah basically the river has no channel left there anymore. Dunno if they will dredge it or not, certainly will have to if that proposed marina ever goes ahead. And it is silt, not sand like it used to be.

Next big flood just might turn Beachmere in to an island
