I was wondering the same thing Wags. Normally this time of year a stroll along the Victoria point jetty tells no lies if the locals have caught any, usually fresh ink if there are any around.

Text me Friday?![]()
I may sound like a silly old fart here ( not the first time ), but back in the 90s I lived at Wynnum and caught heaps of squid during the cooler months, just off the bay shorefront, PM me if you want any details.
Not silly at all!!!
Ummmmmmmmmm, yeah. With enough notice I should be home, going out for bits and pieces on Friday.
Brisie egi club had a event on last weekend at cleveland and a few were caught. I have seen images over the past three weeks of reasonable sized landbased squid being caught.
Jack.
we have been getting small ones in the cast net around nudgee.
I know theyve been catching some nice size arrow squid along redcliffe landbased in a few spots
Dad reckons fishing is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck.
I'm keen to give squidding a go and was about to start my own post when I saw this one.
1. I have seen a few videos about floating baits over weed beds and was wondering if this was a southern aus technique only or if people had success in qld with it?
2. Is fishing off the Bribie island bridge allowed. The only thread I can find on this was in 2005 when it was prohibited??
Cheers,
Jason
Squid jigs over rockycorally/gravelly bottom and/or weedbeds and best to rug up as the colder periods (winter) are better for the bigger models - failing that, send JTpython a pm as he's the squid lord.
Few arrows, kinda on the small side, have not seen any big tigers get pulled in yet but a few average size ones.
Just been having an outing land based.
Still a bit quiet I am told, till season kicks in, but hey they are around and could turn up anywhere.
Dan
Two average sized tiger squid followed my plastics to the kayak this morning off Redcliffe.
