Hi guys heading to noosa on friday morning for a fish, never crossed the noosa bar before, i will be in a 5m boat with a 90hp on the back, i have seen footage of the bar being a bit nasty at times, hows it looking at the moment, any advice would be great .
cheers flynny
flynny,
It's not too bad at the moment. Use your tides when you can, but doesn't always work. Stick in close to the wall, about 15-20m off, & when you get out the end, veer slightly right, say 11 oclock.
Once you get out, keep going, as there can tend to be a smaller sand bank another 50-100m out & some can stand up a bit.
Got caught a while back, thinking I was clear, pulled up to radio Coast Guard, & another set came through. Now I go well out the back!!
As good as all of these tips are, none will see you safely through the bar without you making your best decisions in the few minutes before entering it. Take your time and read the water and the waves before you commit. Ultimately, it is only you who is crossing that bar at that particular time with those particular waves.
