Hi Guys,
interested in an ID on the following two fish caught and released at crescent head, land based off the rocks. Guessing some kind of wrasse for the first one, other one has me stumped but was leaning towards a morwong of some type.

Second one we used to call Old Boot. Some Asians used to like to take them off us calling them Pepper Cod! First one we used to call a parrot but not the parrots we all know in QLD. Both throw backs.
Macca already has the Rubex kit . Nothing derogatory there Muddy. They were me best mates on the rocks. Took nearly everything I was going to throw back and probably made some bloody good tucka out of it.
muddy,
ive been meaning to ask, which one is you in your avatar??
I'm the popular one in the front Wayne. The rest are just groupies trying to get in on the action.
I think your first fish is a Crimsonband Wrasse ( Notolabrus gymnogenis ).
Cheers,
kercus
Thanks ben, T Lump, & Kercus. Had wirrah in the back of my mind from days spent as a youngster just reading through Grants for the fun of it but had never had to ID one.
Muddy...you look like a real ass.....oops I mean wrasse....lol
Gotta Love Maroochydore.
