Thread: Another post on what chart plotter to buy.

Question Another post on what chart plotter to buy.

I don't have a lot of time to shop around, as i did not expect things to pan out the way they have. I'll explain all that later in another post in a few days .

Now back to my problem, what chart plotter to buy up the say $1,400. I don't want a Lowrance no particular reasons I just don't want one and I don't want a touch screen. I am leaning towards a Garmin with about a 7" screen, but what ever I get it must have a fuel metering function. I owned a Navman once, a fairly average GPS unit but the fuel function was great and very easy to use.

So what do you thing I should be looking at, and if you could give me the pros & cons on why you have suggest a particular brand/model great.

Latest BCF cattledog has the 7'' Garmin 750s on sale for $1099.........for members......thats a good price for a touch screen colour combo pre-loaded with charts........hard to go past IMO.

no need to buy the card all charts are pre loaded - g2 vision is only for extra features like auto guidance and google overlay ,
there is no difference in the actual charting but do recommend that you turn up the detail in the menu for you fishing and nav chart as you will get twice the fishing contours and more nav aids when set to most .

Thank for the input so far, that's a good price for the Garmin 750s. But I've heard touch screens are more difficult to use when the boat is bouncing around. I have never used a touch screen so your advice would be appreciated.

Touch screen is easy enough to use even when a little sloppy, no harder than trying to push buttons and turn dials.

You will not find a unit that is easier to use than the Garmin,

Have used a Garmin a little before and i liked it, however the fuel management section was very clumsy in that unit.
