Wayne, any idea when the 751 will be in the shops & what will be the going retail price. I think the 750 will be more than suitable for my needs, but you never know.

Another question not only regarding the 750s but Garmin in general.
This question is directed to Ausfishers that have used both Furuno & Garmin fish finders.
I prefer Furuno as that's what I have used in the past and I prefer stand alone units, - but if I were to compare the Furuno 585 and the Garmin's 750s fish finder screen, how do they compare both in technical ability and ease of use.
Cheers

Bruce you may be set somewhat on your decision on the Garmin. However when I looked at chart plotters/sounders again for my new tinny I ended up going with lowrance again even after contemplating the Garmin 750s. I have 2 7'' units in my tinny. A hds7 gen2 and a Elite 7 hdi. I went with the lowrance hds7 because of the chart plotter easy to use nothing unchanged. However Given that I assume you wish to do a lot of bay fishing with this new boat of yours have you looked at the lowrance elite 7hdi? If your looking for a unit solely for a chart plotter you can have the hdi set as a full 7'' screen chart plotter but also have broadband sounder and down imaging in the one unit? And I believe it can be now bought for around $999.00 Australian and it comes with an Australia wide navionics card as well. Ive found both units to be trouble free and love being able to run down imaging and broadband sonar side by side on the hdi.
Trust you Tim to muddy the water.

i do urge people to compare the DI on the HDI and DI units to that of the LSS transudcer version on lowrance HDS and especially to Hbird units.
the down imaging is... nice.. but not great. however i have cleared out all my HDS5 units because i feel the elite 7hdi will just be a far better unit for value and nobody will buy hds5s in the comming months.
horses for coursesaustralia is a polarised country. holden or ford... that sort of thing. you will always get people buy "and convince others" to buy lowrance because thats what they have always had or been told to have .. or humminbird or garmin etc

Does anyone know if the Garmin 750S on sale has all the fishing zones in and around Moreton Bay on the maps that come with it, or do you have to pay extra?
Fishing111,
I think you need the G2 charts to get the green zones, however there is a sticky at the top of the electronics section.

Honda.
Bruce,
if your interested in comparing like for like, I have a lowrance HDS and garmin 556 (non touch screen in a boat) I also have a 750s fitted to my new boat, I have one of each brand unit connected via nmea to to a Zuke.
Regards
Honda.
I have convinced myself to stay with the 750s. I do like the Elite 7 hdi with the spit screen having a broadband sounder and down imaging in the one uni however.

I had paid for a Dragonfly prior to them being available in Aus, only to be informed 4 weeks later that they (Supplier) had over committed and they were returning my money. Anyway, I opted for a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI. I am more that happy with the Chartplotter and both sonar and downscan... I think its a great unit and for $999 was good value for money. It may not suit the expert fishos, but for the average person......its more than suitable..... I didnt get a pic, but I was able to pick out a ladder laying on the sea bed that had fallen off a marker buoy in the bay and could make out a dugong as I drifted over it....all in about 9 metres of water.
hey mate stock for the 7 inch will be available 1st week of july
echomap 70 RRP $1299.00 ( no nmea 2000 - no chirp capability but HD-ID sonar std)
