I went down south Ballina Beach in the 4by on Anzac day. Plenty of mullett right in close. Had one good hook up on a mad mullett soft Placcie but got to keen and pulled the hooks. Saw a few small chopper being taken to.....

Any decent tailor or Jew coming from between Ballina and Yamba. Heading down for June Long Weekend chasing some big Greenbacks and big Jewies

A lot of mid-size Jew on south wall at the moment.
Fished various around Evans Head 2 weeks ago and there were some reasonable Tailor coming in. Good sizes but you had to put the time in.
Always Bream about but the feed you will get from one good Tailor is equal to 3 good bream.
Some good reports of Jewies up the beaches but I wasn't lucky there.
Going back in a month as I think it is going to be a good year on the beaches.

Hey Gordon
Im fishing the Greenback Tailor comp held on the June Long weekend at Cabarita surf club just over the border. I sign on then take the caravan and Family down to South Ballina Caravan park. Last few times I have fished this beach at that time of year the fishing has been amazing. As with most beach fisho's I have big plans this year after all the rain we have had since Christmas. Hopefully the weather gods can be nice to us for a change as I haven't had a great beach session since Fraser Island last September. I am doing a warm up on the 24th May over at north Straddie chasing bream, tailor and jewies on the full moon. A few guys went over on the Anzac day holiday for 4 days and got stuck into some nice sized choppers. By end of May on the full moon the bream should be well and truly schooled up around the jumpinpin and also be nice and fat prior to heading up river to spawn. Mate if you get a chance check out the tailor greenback comp, really great weekend and also all money raised goes to great causes, I nearly forgot some really great prizes. Cheers and beers

Drop into Yamba Bait & Tackle. The bloke there knows whats going on. He helped me out a few times.
Thanks for the invite Keithy. The mate and I will be saddled with the Cooks and will fish around some spots we are getting to know pretty well.
Hoping for Salmon, Tailor and a few other species.
We have to be crazy going into New South in mid winter when they are all heading north.
At least we will have the Cooks for warmth at night and waders by day.
Thanks again and hope you do well. Take out those Greenbacks before they get to Frazer.

Just did the weekend down at Pottsville and saw a few guys cleaning tailor at the caravan park cleaning table. Best catch I saw was about 9 but only around the kilo mark. Beach is made up good there at the moment. Didnt fish myself due to drinking duties but did manage some worms today, quickly dipped in metho, packed for the winter whiting season.
Good luck with it Gordon, it's a big expanse, but might see you down there.
