starter 40 tohatsu
have a 40 tohatsu electric start plenty power but wont crank over it also pull start and it does start and run fine just doesnt throw out any body any ideas

does it have a separate solenoid for the starter as this could be the problem

i dont no one thing i can check goin to have look this mornin just wanted some ideas what to look for thanks mates

If the solenoid throws the gears into mesh and it does not have enough torque to turn the motor to start, the motor will be the culprit. Check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion. If you don't find any wiring issues, remove the starter and get it load tested.

What happens when you try and start it, do you hear any clicking noises?
Wiggle the gearshift handle, make sure you're in neutral.
Try turning the key to the 'ON' position (not the start position) and pushing it 'IN', do you hear any clicking noises?
