    I pulled some cash together and got the echo 300c, BCF did it for $199. Used it Saturday while trolling for Barra . I'm rapt in the little unit. Very clear bright screen, great bottom and fish arc returns. Thanks for the tips.

    it also lasts 8hrs with 12 aa's, just a tip if you use it for a kayak and wanna save on weight

    I just use cheap AA batteries, a 12 AAs battery holder from a remote control car controller and solder it all up.
    You can buy a 4 pack of AAs for $1 each from overseas and just buy heaps of them.
