Hey Shaun,
If your looking at that price range check out the Raymarine Dragonfly.
What sort of fishing are you doing with it?

Hi Shaun, Ive got a Garmin 551s seems pretty good so far only had it for 6 months shop around for the best price they can vary by alot. I got mine from BIAS for just under $600 delivered and garmin had free map upgrade offer on at the time. But as Ausgradi said check out the Dragonfly units look the goods.

Re: Gps combo advice
Thanks guys Bcf have them at the moment for $549 and have some gift cards to spend there. The major thing I am not sure about is the maps I have never had one so not sure are the ones that it comes with any good do you have to get the $300 cards to go in it .I mainly fish in Tincan bay and hervey bay just want some thing so I can go to new towns/areas and not get as lost mainly use the sounder for depth but want to start looking a reefs. thanks

Re: Gps combo advice
They are an entry level 5" colour combo.......still a decent unit though. There are a lot of different types of sounders on the market these days that offer different or better imaging....some near the same price bracket.
Comes down to what you want your sounder to show and how much coin you have for the unit.
My brother has the 551 unit and it does a reasonably good job.

Re: Gps combo advice
mate I have one (551S) no map card just the base loaded maps it comes with. I reckon they are as good as my elite 5 with the navionics card and I find it a lot easier to use side by side to the lowrance.
