hi all,
I have my boat on the way, seajay 455 territory plated for a 60 yam 4st so i have to pick a sounder.
thinking of going the hds 7/8 and hooking up to the engine (tiller steer) so i can get the flashy tacho and other gauges on the Lowrance with the ability to SS later on if i wanted too.
So first of all does it really need the yam to Lowrance interface cable AND the nmea starter kit? why cant they go from engine to sounder? (i realise to add SS you need nmea 2000 network)
next,i haven't researched hummingbird so what is the HB equivalent? (7in ?) can u get the nmea 2000 tachos n stuff on their units? and are their side scan units are the all in one units? eg- 1 transducer and all in the head unit?
Hi mate - I have a similar setup and you do most definitely need the starter kit.
I use the gauges etc and it is very nice on hds 7's.
No idea on the hummingbird sorry - but I am happy with the lowrance.
Also the structure scan runs on the LAN which is different again - though that is on the gen 1 & 2 hds's - I don't know how it works on the touches - I have a feeling the transducer just plugs into the unit.
yer mate lowrance interface cable and starter kit is needed i run this on my yam/hds5 works a treat theres a fair bit of info on the lowrance web site now to get you started its not that hard to do.
