Recently installed a deck wash kit into my 5.5 aussie whaler profish. Thought I'd put up a few pics of the install for anyone else who might be interested.
I couldn't find a suitable place to mount the pump on the whaler because it has a fully moulded deck. I also wanted to be able to access the pump easily while out fishing. (So I could change hoses to fresh water if I wanted to have a shower after diving)
First I pulled the whole side pocket out and took some measurements in behind the sides of the boat. Then I got a removable lid locker hatch, marked out and cut a nice hole in the side of the boat.
I then sikaflexed and screwed the hatch frame into place. Then I bolted the pump to the removable lid. It's nice and easy to access now.
Then ran all the wires up under the gunnels. i used 4mm tinned marine wire which was recommended in the installation instructions. I used crimp terminals which have there own heat shrink with glue in it to join all wires.
Then it was time to plumb the hoses for the pump. I ran the hose out where the engine wires and steering cable comes out and then down the transom. I didn't want to drill any more holes into the transom so I sikaflexed some cutting board to the transoms then screwed the saddles to the cutting board.
The pump kit came with a bulkhead fitting which the coiled hose screws onto. I mounted this in the side pocket and the hose just lays down in the side pocket and can be easily disconnecte if need be.
I have left extra hose in behind the pump so it's long enough to pull the pump out to change hoses over.
There was also a switch that came with the kit which I mounted above my switch panel.
