    Rod advice

Hi. I am looking at getting a pair of new rods soon and was hoping to get some advice. Currently I am using a TLD 25 loaded with 50lb Platinum Platypus and a Baitrunner 4500B with 20lb Finns Windtamer. I do a lot of rock / estuary fishing and someday hope to be able to hit the bluewater and get into the bigger stuff.

As far as rods I have heard great things about Live Fibre and with a 20% off sale I really see no other option. For the TLD I was thinking about a 7' 15-24kg Overhead and for the Baitrunner a 7' 8-15kg Spin. Has anyone used these reels in combination with the rods I mentioned, and if so, how did you find the balance? My main concern is that I am going too heavy but as I mentioned I will eventually use them offshore and no doubt on some larger reels.

This is my first post so sorry if this thread has been covered before - I am just a bit antsy from the thought of dropping $400 on a pair of rods that is the complete opposite of what I need. I really value the opinion of the forum members here and when I have a fishing question I always include ausfish in the search terms. Thanks!

Both rods are quite suitable for what you want. I run a TLD25 over the 15-24kg Live fibre and it is a nicely balanced outfit. I can't tell you about the 7' 8-15 spin rod but my brother is more than happy with the 8' 8-10kg version

Look for a queenslander version of the overhead rod. 7ft 8-15kg I believe. I run one with an okuma overhead similar to tld25 just with level wind. Has never let me down. Big sharks. Snapper, coral trout, trolling all work well.
