Thread: Daiwa reel warranties

    Daiwa reel warranties

Just got myself a certate 10 2500R from MO tackle and went to Daiwa austraila to see what the warranty is and it seems that unless you have bought a DA reel theres no 5years warrenty because the JDM certates dont come with a warranty card for austraila only japanies, you would think that if daiwa austraila was selling JDM reels there would be,but after reading the condicions for the warranty you would be hard pressed to get a claim other than a faulty reel out of the box.

Purchased a Tierra 4000 over five years ago from MO tackle, the base of bail broke, dropped in to have it fixed and pay for this year. They sent it off to Daiwa and the reel was returned fixed at no cost. Found the service at Mo and Daiwa both excellent.

    Re: Daiwa reel warranties

In my personal experience, the D in Daiwa stands for DOG. Had a nearly new 4500 Saltiga that developed a ticking noise and became rough. Daiwa (after 6 weeks) said it had been abused, charged $170 to "repair" it and sent it back worse than before. Despite another attempt (in total it was gone 3 months), they never got it right. As a result, I sold all my Daiwa gear and replaced it with Shimano (I have a dozen or so high end outfits). I didn't feel right trying to sell the Saltiga, so I kept it as a spare for newbies.
Had an issue with a brand new 20 000 Stella and the Qld Shimano agent could not have possibly done more to assist me and get the problem rectified (same day- came to my house to collect and return the reel)

    Re: Daiwa reel warranties

I bought my Luvias 2500R DA Custom about 2 years ago and it has the 5 year warranty.

Sounds strange as I thought the Certate goes for a fair few dollars more.

I bought it off the shelf at FishHead Viccy Point, at the time these guys where the only ones who stocked it on the shelf.

It's a very good reel (made in Japan ).

    Re: Daiwa reel warranties

IMHO anything sold without a warranty card is OEM.

Which is fine, though you will only get the sellers warranty and not a manufacturers warranty.

I mean really if what you bought is the real deal then you should have a solid reel, I have only ever bought a reel with no warranty card and that was a FireBlood - (Same stuff Stradic is built on now), so I did OK.

Pretty sure Mo tackle would be reasonable enough to see the faults if there was any.
With a reel like that you would be taking less of a risk on warranties, it should be pretty solid.

Just an update here, the reel I mentioned above is actually made in Thailand, it has DA after the name and still has the 5 year warranty.
Have had no issues with it.
    Sorry about that.
