About to buy a Fish Finder

I've decided that if I am going to have any chance of catching a fish around here I need a fish finder, and I've narrowed it down to Garmin Echo 300C. Hopefully BCF take it back to the $199 it was before Easter holidays.

I plan on putting it in my Brooker 12V, 15hp tinny.

I was looking at the Lowrance Elite 4x but the Garmin looks to have brighter screen, plus has 300W RMS making it a more powerful unit.

Has anyone used one of these for shallow estuary creek work? Thoughts?

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges

JT mate, that unit is like $800. Crikey my whole boat/motor/trailer cost $1200.
I was going to get a Garmin echo 100 at $89, but I wanted to see a bit more that that slight 100w unit could give. I'd love to get a Lowrance 7 HDS, but bang for buck is the the key here.
Nice bloody unit though. It got me drooling. Cheers

Keep your eyes open here for someone wanting to upgrade to bigger and better from a HDS5 or something.....the difference between the new ones you are looking at and the upspeced ones is quite a lot. You might get really lucky and score a $800 unit for a few hundred. Some of the guys here change their electronics more then their jocks it seems.....

My budget only extends to $200, maybe $300 as I don't work in the mines.
