    150 Watt floodlight

    Hey Guys,

Well I'm kicking off camping again and starting with powered sites to get my wife accustomed to it.....she's never camped before and from Thailand. We're going to get a powered site and I'm looking at lighting.

Would you recommend a 150watt floodlight or would it be overkill? I'm looking at an SCA from Supercheap for $13.75 or a Calibre portable LED 5 x 3watt for $49.99.

I'm sure I'm going to get blasted from the non-power campers but please be gentle as I'm trying to convert a non-camper and want her to enjoy it from the beginning and not an unpleasant start.

    Cheers guys.

    Mate you are in Sydney

take her camping - well actually glamping at the lane cove national park or do the glamping at taronga zoo. All set up and all you need to do is bring yourselves along. Nothing funnier than trying to go to sleep with a elephant trumpeting a a lion calling. hmm maybe not a good idea but a few wines and you'll sleep soundly. The other glamping site is cockatoo island and wake up to Sydney Harbour coming alive and they have afirepit area at night. A google should find em.

150w is going to attract every moth and bug in NSW and peeve off others next to you.. Keep it simple and crash early and wake up early unless it is a place where you can sit by a fire and watch the stars go by. You only need a small led lantern for the 2 of you and a torch to get to the amenities. .

Decided on the Korr lighting 3 bar setup.....will do a great job from reviews and lumens.

    150w is over kill.

BTW, white light sucks, the more yellow, the less bugs.

I have the Korr 4 bar set and they are excellent, the LED's attract nowhere near as many bugs as normal white light and the dimmers that come in the pack allow you to dim certain bars and leave one light on high to attract any bugs to that particular bar, usually set up at the far end of your camp.

When I brought mine they had no orange bars in stock so I have not tried them but I plan on buying a couple when they become avaliable for those times when the bugs are extreme.

Blue is a better colour for night times.

Is that for looking , moving around camp and reading or for bugs?

I had a look at the website and they look good. Hmm now to invent a excuse to upgrade

Made the purchase yesterday (3 Bar White LED) and now waiting for delivery. Unfortunately they were out of Orange however they did say the Orange really aren't bright enough for camping.

Orange maybe a good option for an addon strip later for snide the tent. I'm looking forward to testing them out in a weeks time.

    Re: 150 Watt floodlight

Glamping......my wife (Thai) has never been before and I want to make sure she'll enjoy it so she wants to go again in the future. This time round we're heading to Norah Head on the NSW Central Coast for a week.

Nice spot and hope it is quiet but remember it is school holidays so kids will be everywhere. If you have kids - well you won't notice!! Still warm enough for mozzies so some coils and spray. Enjoy it and hope the wife does. You might have picked the perfect weather window if the forcassts hold.

Yeah, it will be busy and rowdy no doubt. Going up with other family & friends who join us after 5 days and they've booked a site either side of us....so we've got extra space the majority of it. Nephews going also so plenty of noise I'm sure

Will defo get some coils and spray, thanks for the reminder. Just looking forward to something different, getting away and wetting the line.

Anyone have any hideaway spots for fishing you can share in the area....going with light gear so calm beach or estuary it will be.

Sorry don't know it well enough to give any advice but sitting on a beach with a rod is good enough!! Bonus if a fish commits suicide
