    jig head moulds and hooks

i was chasing info on what you guys use and where do you get them from. im looking at doing 1-4oz heads with 5-7o hooks. i want to make them from scratch to match with 7inch shads for deeper water. top quality hooks are very important. hoping dayoo will chime in.

    cheers fellas

I got two do-it molds recently, just haven't had the time to make up some jigheads, I got 1.5-4oz, they take Mustad hooks, I got some non-mustad ones from fleabay that look okay but I need to connect a large trout or fingermark or something and see how they hold up but should be fine. Will post a report when I've made some up and caught fish on them.

Yeah, Do-it molds but watch out for the fish head shad as they will break the rubber retainer off with minimal flexing. The mold I have is the SHL-9-3 which makes 1.5,2,2.5 ounce heads and works fine but getting the hooks to suit is another problem. I bought some hooks that were supposed to fit that mold off fleabay but the hook shank diameter was too thick so I had to search for suppliers in the U.S.
Found some but most require an ABN number to purchase them in any bulk amounts.
Cut the cost back to around 30-40 cents per jighead...

Still not quite happy with the tensile strength of the hooks but they work fine and have not let me down for the cost. They just require constant sharpening.

Gamakatsu make good quality hooks to suit but increase the cost to over a $1 per jighead but I am looking at that avenue to get a strong, stay sharp hook especially for banging them around the rocks..
