stand up game rods

Hi fishos looking at 15kg to24kg stand up gear, wanting to know when looking at these rods which roller runners are the go? i see a look of the t curve series around are they ok i only fish the smaller game fish up to say 100kgs so i dont need to speed a lot of moneyt can any one help please.

Shimano Tiagra Tcurve rods are excellent value for money for their quality.
Very hard to beat really.
The 15kg Tcurve is rated 15-24kg, but they are a bit soft for 24kg i found though, particularly once you get up the drag to 12kg. Perfect for 15kg though.
The 24kg rod is rated 24-37kg and is spot on for 24 and ok for 37kg unless once again, you go to sunset and get involved in a vertical slugfest.

I've got 2 tcurve 24kgs rods matched with tiagra's absolutlely awesome and have fought some big sharks and marlin on them ... U won't go wrong they load up very very well...
Funny thing about fishing u will say I only want to go small gamefish and that's when a 150kg plus blue turns up... They hear will give u a fair chance!!!!

so what rollers do the Tcurve use? I am looking on the 2nd hand market as well i do know the t curve and at the right price i will buy one 2nd hand but there are a lot of custom rods i have never heard of, so if i come across a rod with said name that i dont know but the rollers are a good brand i might have a go at it so i would really like to get to know the different brand of rollers.If anyone can enlighten me on this it would be great.

Mick, AFTCO are probably the old time benchmark on roller guides and you will generally see these on the better quality production built rods, its stamped on the guides. They will do the job, i just built a couple of 24's using aftco and literally 000000's of big fish have been caught on them. I am of the opinion that there is probably better technology out there now in the form of the new stuff from winthrop Tool (WT's) and the likes off Alps. These later guides are bloody expensive however and are really the premise of the custom built stuff as they make the production rods just to expensive, great guides in my opinion though. I wouldn't be scared of buying the cutom bulit stuff 2nd hand, chances are you will be buying a better quality blank than what shimano mass produce on. If in doubt maybe just post the specs and details up in the rod building section, get the blank details if possible from the seller and you sould be able get some opinions on that. I build my own rods as s hobby, i'm no expert and have heaps to learn, i can say with confidence though that all my builds are way more durable and will last the years way better than comparable production blanks.

The original series TCurves used AFTCO rollers and the cheaper Revolutions use the PAC Bay rollers. Epoxy is not as good on the cheaper ones as well.
